«نيشابور» شهري است در قلب خراسان، ساختن نيشابور را به شاپور اول ساساني نسبت مي دهند و اسم شهر را به معني «نهاده نيك شاپور» مي دانند.
«ابرشهر» نام قديم نيشابور است، احتمال دارد كه اين نام در اصل شهر آپارناك يا آپارني و جايگاه يكي از سه قبيله مهم پارت بوده باشد كه شاهنشاهي نيرومند اشكاني را بنياد كردند.

و «ابرشهر؛ تارنگار اطلاع رساني نيشابور»، بر آن است، شناختي ديگر از نيشابور، به وسعت گذشته تا اكنون، در حوزه هاي مختلف تاريخ، فرهنگ، هنر، گردشگري، جاذبه هاي تاريخي و طبيعي، كشاورزي، اقتصاد، صنعت و ...، به روايت منابع (چاپي و الكترونيك) موجود، در اختيار علاقمندان و پژوهشگران اين حوزه قرار دهد.

Neyshabur [or Nishapur] is the heart of Khorasan and "Abarshahr" its ancient name. Neyshabur is located in 115 kms. west of Mashhad in the province of Khorasan in Iran

This ancient city has been the home of the great poet and mathematician Hakim Omar-e-Khayyam and the great mystical poet Attar-e Neyshaburi. In addition, Neyshabur has been a major source of Firouz-e -Turquoise- for thousands of years and still a major center of Turquoise trade
